Dr. Jennifer Hastings, Transgender Healthcare Specialist, Provides Tremendous Insight

Quick dinner after the group.
Last Saturday, we were honored by having Dr. Jennifer Hastings attend our monthly parent support group. We had an amazing turnout with 25 parents in attendance.

Dr. Hastings spoke about all the medical issues that transgender kids have when they are questioning or transitioning. As parents, we had so many questions and she answered every one.

The questions ranged from simple health issues (like getting treated properly by a physician) to hormone blockers to what to expect from surgery.

She answered our questions with such grace and compassion. After the meeting, she made time to speak with each person individually. I have known Jennifer for a few years now, and I can tell you Dr. Hastings truly loves what she is doing and believes in her work with the transgender community.

I feel so fortunate to have her as a medical professional in my child’s life but to also consider her a friend that I can lean on for guidance as we continue to lead the Transfamily Support Group.

Thank you Jen for educating and supporting all of the parents of transgender youth in our county.
